Adding an SSL Certificate to Your AgentID Site

Why Your AgentID Site Says "Not Secure" (and How to Set Up SSL)

If your AgentID Site shows a “Not Secure” warning in the address bar, this article explains why that happens, whether it’s a problem, and how you can fix it using a free SSL certificate from Cloudflare.

What Does “Not Secure” Mean?

This message appears when your website is not using HTTPS encryption (secured by an SSL certificate). It means that data sent between your website and its visitors isn’t encrypted.

Important: Your AgentID Site does not collect sensitive data like credit card info or passwords, so SSL is not required for security. However, having SSL can:

  • Eliminate browser warnings like “Not Secure”

  • Build trust with visitors

  • Provide slight SEO benefits

Why SSL Is Optional for AgentID Sites

Your AgentID Site functions as a marketing tool and doesn't perform any e-commerce or data collection. That’s why we don't install SSL by default.

That said, if you want to eliminate the "Not Secure" message, you can absolutely add SSL—and you can do it for free.

How to Add Free SSL Using Cloudflare

We recommend Cloudflare, a widely used and free service that offers basic SSL certificates and additional protection.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Create a Free Cloudflare Account

Go to:

Click Sign Up and follow the instructions to set up your free Cloudflare account.

2. Add Your Domain Name

Once logged in, enter your domain name (e.g., youragentid.com) into the setup wizard.

Cloudflare will scan your DNS records and import them automatically.

3. Update Your Nameservers

Cloudflare will give you two new nameservers.
Log in to your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.) and replace your current nameservers with the ones provided by Cloudflare.

⚠️ DNS changes can take several hours to fully propagate.

4. Enable SSL in Cloudflare

Once your nameservers update successfully:

  • Log in to your Cloudflare account

  • Go to the SSL/TLS tab

  • Choose the Flexible or Full SSL setting (either works for your AgentID Site)
